Kunle Afolayan has been criticized for being a bad actor but there was nothing bad about his performance in legendary filmmakers film TundeKelani’s Dazzling Mrage.

Truth be told, his performance could simply be adjudged amongst the best at this year’s AFRIFF.  Starring alongside Kemi “Lala” Akindoju, both actors turned up the chemistry in this social conscience drama about the plight of people living with sickle cell.

According to Tunde Kelani, the film was conceived in 2011 and he was not ready to be subtle about the theme of the film. The campaign for sickle cell was splash all over and if you did not know anything about it before the film at the end, you will be a campaigner.

Dazzling mirage was a beautiful climax of day that saw Mildred Okwo take jabs at film directors for not bringing out the best in actor in a workshop themed; ACTING WITH INTEGRITY. Kunle and Lala acted with integrity and vindicated uncle TK from such jabs. While many of the directors could not attend the workshop as their films were screening at the time, word quickly got to them in the spirit of friendship this year’s festival has birthed.

And when all gathered at the pool party to fraternizeunder the lit skies of fireworks at Tinapa pool side, they talked about everything that went down earlier; from the amazing performance of Christa Eka (Cameroonian) in Damaru, where the actors learnt sign language to act with integrity, to workshops by Jude Idada, Tunde kelani and Yemi Akintokun on ADAPTING AFRICAN LITERATURE FOR SCREEN.
